The foods that we consume affect the body’s performance and pH level. Your body’s pH ranges from 7.35-7.45 making the environment slightly alkaline. However, this pH level has to be maintained with alkaline-forming foods. Regulating itself, the body will fight to sustain a neutral state. When you eat acid-forming foods, your body fluids become acidic and can trigger Acidosis.
Acidosis occurs when there is a build-up of acid in the bloodstream. According to Healthline, the lungs and kidneys are able to compensate for pH imbalances, although problems with these organs cause an excess of acid build-up. You can help to prevent this by eating a mostly alkaline-forming diet. Here are 15 alkaline-forming foods to incorporate in your diet and alkalize the body:
Alkaline Protein
Almonds
Chestnuts
Tempeh
Tofu
Quinoa
Alkaline Vegetables
Alfalfa sprouts
Beets
Broccoli
Cucumber
Mushrooms
Alkaline Fruits
Apricot
Blackberries
Fresh coconut
Honeydew melon
Tomato
We often hear to maintain the skin’s pH, although we also have to keep the body neutral. The link between eating only alkaline-forming foods and alkalizing the body isn’t fully supported. Although, we can do what we can by incorporating more of these foods in our diet. By cutting back on acid-forming foods, we can help to prevent illness and disease.
